The exposed features of this 1800s cottage offer the perfect partnership for its quintessentially English cottage décor: an enchanting selection of floral and bird wallpapers and off-white paint shades are the perfect foil for the stone walls, wide wooden floorboards and solid timber beams. ‘We love the roughness of the original features, ’ says owner Joan Walker, ‘and have tried to celebrate their history rather than overly restore them; we didn’t want anything in the cottage to look too pristine or out of place. But I do love pretty cottage style, it’s very cosy and welcoming, and our home definitely suits it.’
